Highwater carries a vast selection of fly fishing products, a range of items that caters to the needs of tiers at the bench and fly fishers on the water. The never ending advances in fishing rod technology has created a price defined variety of choice that pretty much opens the door for anyone interested in casting a fly. The rising popularity of fly fishing has re-defined the marketing direction of many fishing tackle manufacturers. In today’s world potential fly fishers need not sell the farm to engage in the sport of fly fishing.
Our inventory of single handed rods is complete and allows us to outfit those engaging in a wide spectrum of angling endeavours. Whether you are destine to chase small Rainbow with a 2 weight or hunt Tarpon in southern waters with a 13 weight, Highwater Tackle can assist. Our Legacy of catering to lower mainland fly fishers has allowed us to develop a wonderful working relationship with a number of well known and highly respected fly rod manufacturers. We proudly carry such brands as: Sage, R.L Winston, G.Loomis, Hardy, Redington, Temple Fork Outfitters (TFO), Fenwick, Dragonfly and many others.
Keeping pace with the Double Handed fly fishing revolution has been one of our primary initiatives. The introduction and expansion of both Switch and Spey rod lines offered by the aforementioned fly rod manufacturers would suggest that this particular method of casting a fly has tweaked the interest of both entire an industry and a fly fishing community.
Now-a-days fly reels come in every shape, colour, size, and price. There are so many viable options in the category of fly reels it’s often very hard to make that final decision. We have a super range of fly reels which included recognizable names like Abel, Islander, Hardy, Sage, Lamson, Dragonfly, Fenwick, Okuma, Redington, and Pfluegar. The defining characteristics of said reels might include such features as cast or machined frames, interchangeable spools, disk drags, clicker drags, or fishy graphics. If you are unsure about what is right for you or have questions regarding different products feel free to come in and talk to any one of the staff.
Needless to say rods and reels are of little significance without the incorporation of fly lines. Modern fly line companies keep stores like ours in a product knowledge upgrade that never seems to end. The good news being that a fly line exists for pretty much every situation and usage imaginable. At present and with respect to both single and double handed approaches we carry a full complement of Scientific Angler (SA) and Rio Fly lines. In addition, we do carry some Cortland and Airflo products.
An entire section of the store remains dedicated to fly tying material and tools including brands like Wapsi, Hareline, Hook & Hackle, Metz, Whiting, Cascade Crest, Dr. Slick, Griffin, Tiemco, Partridge, Mustad, Spirit River, Rainy’s, Fish Skull, Loon, Fish Pimp, UTC, and HMH. We also stock a plethora of fly boxes each characterized by size and specific features. Our accessory list is highlighted by stomach pumps, nippers, head cements, strike indicators, floatants, reel protectors and simply too many additional items to mention.
To the uniformed the matching of rod, reel and line if often perceived as both confusing and complex. Put simply, it’s not! Allow us to assist you in this choice. We will make a concerted effort to explain why a specific combination might be recommended over another. In addition, we would like the opportunity to help you learn a new language, the language of fly fishing. Casting lessons can be arranged through either Dave or Matt, simply just phone or stop in to arrange a date and time.
